Polycarbonate (PC) is a high-performance thermoplastic known for its exceptional mechanical strength, heat resistance, and excellent optical and dimensional stability. In the form of engineering plastic sheets and rods, it is used in demanding applications where high mechanical properties and good chemical resistance are required.
Engineering PC is not the same as cellular or corrugated polycarbonate roofing – it is a solid, compact material intended for machining (milling, turning, drilling) for the production of technical components.
Main properties:
Exceptional impact resistance (even at low temperatures)
High heat resistance (up to ~135 °C continuous use)
Excellent dimensional stability
Good dielectric insulation
Easy to machine (CNC, sawing, milling)
Moderate chemical resistance
High light transmission (for optically clear PC)
Typical applications:
Mechanical parts (gears, bearing bushes, guides)
Electrical equipment components (housings, insulators)
Automotive industry components
Transparent machine guards and protective covers
Tools and support structures in production
Medical and pharmaceutical equipment (BPA-free versions)
