PA46 (polyamide 46) is a technically advanced thermoplastic material belonging to the family of polyamides (nylons). It differs from other types such as PA6 or PA66 by having a higher content of amide groups, which gives it exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties. Due to its high crystallinity and thermal stability, PA46 is particularly suitable for demanding and thermally stressed applications.
Main properties:
Outstanding thermal stability up to approx. 170–195 °C (continuous operating temperature)
High mechanical strength and rigidity
Excellent dimensional stability
Good wear resistance, even at high temperatures
Low friction and good self-lubrication without additives
Good chemical resistance (oil, fuel, grease, organic solvents)
Very low moisture absorption compared to other PA materials
Excellent dielectric (insulating) properties
Typical applications:
Automotive industry: engine components, bearing housings, spacers, gears, sliders, clutches
Electronics: insulators, connectors, precision mechanical parts
Industrial equipment: high-temperature bearings, guides, sliding elements, gears
Chemical industry: components exposed to oil, fuels, and aggressive media
