Magnoval 2232 is a high-performance composite material made from melamine resin and cotton fabric, specially designed for applications where high dimensional stability, good machinability, and excellent mechanical and electrical properties are essential. This laminate is characterised by low moisture absorption, high strength, and resistance to temperature changes, making it an ideal material for a wide range of electrical and mechanical applications.
Magnoval 2232 offers an excellent balance between strength and elasticity while maintaining stable dielectric properties even under high humidity conditions. Due to the use of melamine resin, the material also shows a certain degree of resistance to fire and UV radiation.
Main properties:
Good dielectric and mechanical stability
Excellent dimensional stability
Low moisture absorption
Good wear resistance
Good machinability (cutting, grinding, drilling)
Good heat resistance (up to 130–140 °C)
Self-extinguishing according to certain standards
Main applications:
Insulating parts in transformers, motors, and generators
Mechanically stable parts in switchgear
Support and protective plates in the electrical industry
Structural components in mechanical engineering (base plates, spacers)
Components requiring a combination of electrical insulation and mechanical strength
Standards:
IEC 60893-3-4 (EP CC 203)
EN 60893
DIN 7735 (HGW 2088.5 / HGW 2085.5 – depending on composition)
UL 94 (fire safety – after testing)
RoHS compliant
Designations under various standards:
Isovolta trade name: Magnoval 2232
DIN / EN: HGW 2088.5 or similar (depending on thickness and fabric type)
IEC: PF CC 203 (phenolic cotton composite) or MF CC (melamine cotton laminate, if melamine-based)
Note: The correct classification depends on the actual resin – Magnoval 2232 is typically based on melamine, which means it belongs to the MF CC class of laminates.
